"I could talk to him if you'd like me to, Galahad. I don't mind. Maybe he might feel some comfort having someone he cared about at his side." She could only hope that was the case.
I was an offer he could accept with.. some hesitation. "Though you may have been friends at one time, He may not know you in this place." Galahad looked up to the castle wall which they drew ever closer to. They'd be entering the front gates soon enough.
"If you talk to him, please remember that and don't take what he says personally."
She nodded at the silver hedgehog and looked up at the castle wall that he was staring at. Wow, it was way more impressive than any illustration could produce! She was now in complete awe of the scene in front of her.
Now that they were heading there, he supposed an introduction was in order. "This is the city of Camelot." He motioned a hand towards it. "It's ruled by King Uther Pendragon and protected by the Knights of the city." That was it in a nutshell. "The city is large and there are many things to explore, but I imagine you'll be staying in a room in the castle as a guest until my Father returns."
"Oh I know this city! But I thought it was ruled by King Arthur not King Uther." She hadn't reach the Arthurian Legends in so long, though she tilt her head little when he mentions about her being a guest at the castle. "Actually, I was hoping to stay with you if that's all right. Unless you think I should stay at the castle."
Galahad was about ready to continue his explanation of the royal family when Maria made her suggestion. He about choked in spite of it, and stopped in step as he began coughing. Once he was able to catch his breath he explained"Y-you couldn't possibly."
Perhaps she didn't know what that implicated? "As a Knights Son, I have my own room in the castle." He looked off. "A Lady, such as yourself, should have your own room. You couldn't stay in mine. There's no place for you to sleep."
"Oh!" Well, that caught her by surprise and she then started laughing a little. "I thought you had a your own house. I'm sorry, I didn't know you lived in the castle. I'll stay in my own room in the castle then."
She.. didn't know? How different were the customs of the village that she had come from?
Galahad shook his head. "The Knights have to stay in the castle to ensure they're close to the royal family. Though I could try to get a dwelling since I am not a Knight.. butI aim to be a Knight my own one day." There was a pause. "I wouldn't want to leave my Father alone in the city."
"That's as wonderful goal to aim for, Galahad. I'm sure your father also appreciates you doing that for him." She couldn't help but smile at him because she honestly thought it was great what he was doing.
"I'm sure he feels that way... Thank you, My Lady." He would almost certainly never know for sure by words alone. "I've only ever wanted to be a Knight, but my swordsmanship is nothing like my fathers." He could scarcely defend himself in a hand-to-hand combat situation. But he didn't know how else to live his life.
"I'm sure you'll do your best in the end, Galahad. As long as you believe in yourself and keep looking forward." She was doing her best to give him confidence, especially since she could tell he needed it.
He gave a nod, but didn't say much else on the matter.
The two passed through the guards at the gates and their view opened up to the Lower Town of Camelot. All the houses were low single-story shacks so the Castle near the back of the city was clearly visible. There were many people wandering through the street in the lower market, chattering over their wares as they bartered over the latest deals.
"Welcome to the city, Lady Maria. This is Camelot's lower town."
She followed her companion happily and watched the scenes going on around her with a bright smile. This was even better than she thought it would be, everyone seemed so lively and it looked a lot of fun.
"Wow everyone is so lively around here and the food looks amazing." Her stomach starting rumbling a little when she mentions food. "Oh. I think I might need some food before I start drooling over the merchant's wares."
"We can look to see if there is anything available in the castle kitchen, if it's to your liking."
Galahad continued, though he tried as he could to ignore the glances in their direction.. it was hard to ignore. So few humans ever visited the kingdom and she was wearing such strange clothes that the girl stuck out like a sore thumb.
"Could we? That would be nice, thank you so much." Maria does see the glances of the other people around them and wonders if it has something to do with her, she even looks down at herself before looking at everyone else with a faint blush.

He chose..not to mention what she was wearing.
